What size room does the living area package suit?

Rooms our size calculator puts at 4.5 to 7 kW. With ceiling and underfloor insulation and a 2.4 m stud, that's about 35 to 53 m² in a mild or moderate climate and 29 to 44 m² in a cold one. High studs and no insulation push smaller rooms into this band.

How much does a living room heat pump cost installed?

Top5.nz's August 2026 guide puts a living-area high-wall install at $3,200 to $4,800, typically $4,000. Our fixed price is published once the installer for your region is contracted.

Will one high-wall unit heat an open-plan living area?

Up to about 7 kW, usually yes, if the room is a simple shape. L-shaped rooms, or areas that need more than 7 kW, are better served by two units or a multi-split.
