How it works

Six steps, one contract, one price

You size the room online and see the package price. A refundable deposit books the job. Our contracted installer checks the site and either confirms the price or prices the extras in writing. You accept, or cancel for a full refund. After the install and the electrical certificate, we invoice the balance. You deal with NZ Heat Pumps throughout.

  1. Size the room

You put the floor area, stud height, insulation and region into the calculator. It shows the working and the kW, and the package that kW falls into. Nothing is submitted and nothing is paid.

  2. Book with a refundable deposit

You pick the package, tell us about the wall and the house, and pay a $200 deposit on Stripe's secure page. That holds the job. It is fully refundable until you accept the confirmed price.

  3. Site check confirms the price

Our contracted installer checks the wall, the pipe run and the switchboard, in person or from your photos. If it is a standard install, the package price stands. If it isn't, you get the extras priced in writing before you commit.

  4. Accept, or cancel for a full refund

If you don't want the extras, or we can't schedule an installer in the window we agreed, you cancel and the deposit comes back in full.

  5. Install and certificate

The installer fits and commissions the unit, registers the manufacturer warranty in your name and issues the electrical certificate. You get the installer's workmanship warranty in writing.

  6. Balance after it's running

We invoice the balance (the package price plus any extras you accepted, less your deposit) once the job is complete and the certificate is in hand.

Where we are up to

We are contracting installers region by region, so every region is currently taking a waitlist and no deposits are being taken. Package pages show the published NZ market range for that size, labelled as a market range, until our fixed price is set from two installer quotes plus our margin.

If you are a registered installer, we buy standard back-to-back work at an agreed rate with no selling to do: install with us.

Questions

Who actually installs my heat pump?

A contracted installer does the electrical and refrigerant work. We check their Electrical Workers Registration Board registration on the public register and keep evidence of their refrigerant certification before they do any job for us. We do not hold those registrations ourselves and never claim to. You contract with us, and we manage the job.

Why does a company that doesn't hold the tickets sell the install?

Because the part homeowners find hardest isn't the wiring, it's getting a straight price. We do the sizing, publish one price per size, hold the contract and manage the job. The trade work goes to someone registered to do it. Retailers in NZ work the same way.

How do you make money?

We sell the whole job at the package price and pay the installer their agreed subcontract rate per job. The difference is our margin, and it pays for the sizing, the site-check coordination, the warranty admin and carrying the seller's obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act. We are not paid by any heat pump brand.

Is my deposit safe?

The deposit is $200, taken on Stripe's hosted checkout so no card details touch this site. It is fully refundable until you accept the confirmed price after the site check, and it is credited against your balance if you go ahead. The full terms are in our terms of trade.

What if you can't install in my area?

We say so on the region page and on the booking form, and we don't take a deposit. You can ask us to pass your details to an installer who does work there. We tell you who first, you tick a box to agree, and we may receive a referral fee for it. If you don't tick the box, nothing is passed on.

What happens if something goes wrong after the install?

You deal with us, not the installer. We hold the seller's obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act, we arrange the manufacturer warranty claim and we send the installer back for workmanship issues.
